The wyvern is a level 220 monster that is found in The Frozen Boneland, north of Ghorrock. They are much deadlier than their skeletal counterparts, with higher combat level and lifepoints. Wyverns attack with Melee, Ranged, Magic and long-ranged Icy dragonfire. The melee and ranged attacks both can hit up to 150 and poison the target, while their magic attacks can hit up to 170. Despite having Icy dragonfire breath, they can still hit up to 690 without the right protection (Elemental- Mind-Body shield or Dragonfire shield).

The area which they are in is surrounded by a very few numbers of level 165 Frosty Wolves and level 122 Ice troll. Revenants do not wander here which should not be much of a threat.

Strategy

When fighting wyverns it is always a must to carry protection against the their icy-breath damage that will be lowered down to 60. An antifire potion is great as it will complete immune you against the dragon-fire. Ranging with a rune crossbow is also a great strategy as the Wyverns only melee if you get too close. Praying against Ranged while wearing high magic defence armour (black d'hide armour) is also a recommended way for ranging them. Also carry about 2-4 Anti-poison or a Super Anti-poison potion to avoid getting poisoned (You could get poisoned even if you take no damage). Meleers should have at least 75+ levels on Attack, Strength, Defence and Constitution as well as high melee armour and Protect from magic prayer, there are some choices of weapons such as Abyssal whip or Dragon scimitar to melee and have a dragon dagger(p++) or a dragon mace as secondary weapons. For Rangers, a rune crossbow and 70+ ranged is a must for killing them, but at least Level 80 Ranged is recommended. Since wyverns have a strong weakness towards stab, players can use weapons such as a Chaotic rapier or Zamorakian spear (Super-antifire potion is required). Magers should wear robes with high magic-defence such as Mystic robes and pray against Ranged attack style as the robes are fairly weak against Ranged attacks, Level 59 Magic or higher is recommended as Fire bolt is very ineffective. Fire Surge can hit up to 439 on the Wyvern with a Staff of light, which is very effective. Slayers should wear Black mask/Slayer helm to get advantages, if on a slayer task.

Getting there

The The Frozen Boneland is found not so far from Ghorrock, but a bit north past the two hills at the north. To get there you could use the Ghorrock Teleport from the Ancient Magicks or teleport to Edgeville via Amulet of Glory. Using the games necklace to teleport to Wilderness Volcano is still proved a fast way or using the Wilderness Obelisks.
