Music is a F2P skill in which the user plays instruments to restore health and/or prayer (and create nice-sounding music!). The player starts out by obtaining a musical instrument from a musician, and playing different notes for experience.
Instruments[]
Instruments come in different types, which can be accessed at different levels and have different bonuses. They are only obtainable from any Musician if you are deemed to be worthy, and are therefore untradeable.
- Shakers - Experience only.
- Banjo - Restores run energy.
- Mandolin - Restores summoning points.
- Guitar - Restores run energy and summoning points.
- Lyre - Restores lifepoints slowly.
- Harp - Restores run energy and lifepoints at a medium rate.
- Harmonica - Restores run energy and lifepoints quickly.
- Triangle - Restores prayer slowly.
- Xylophone - Restores run energy and prayer points at a medium rate.
- Marimba - Restores run energy, prayer points and lifepoints quickly.
Additional Instruments[]
- Flute - Puts pickpocketable NPC's to sleep for easy thieving.
- Elven harp - Doubles the experience gain for growing, harvesting and checking the health of any type of tree.
- Trumpet - Cleans all grimy herbs in your inventory.
Notes[]
Here is a list of the different notes that can be played and what level they require to be played.
B (level 1), A (level 1), G (level 1), F (level 10), High C (level 20), F# (level 25), Low C (level 35), High D (level 45), Low D (level 60).
The Harp, Xylophone and Marimba are unique because they can play three different ranges of notes (e.g. three different B's).
Aura of Effect[]
The AoE (Aura of Effect) is generated when playing an instrument. it can be used to restore other players abilities as well as your own, except on PvP worlds and in the Bounty Hunter Volcano. Some people will pay quite a bit of money for someone to help them with their instruments AoE during a tough battle.
Money[]
There are several ways to make money using the music skill, even though it might not seem so at first. Here are some of them:
- Sell the AoE bonuses to people during a particularly tough fight.
- Put NPC's to sleep and pickpocket them for money or expensive items.
- Sell the song you have composed.
Temporary Boosts[]
- Listening to a Musician for long enough to heal 50% of your run energy will boost your Music level by 2.
- Staying in Tirannwn or the Tree Realm for half an hour (30 minutes) will boost your Music level by 6.
