The Abandoned Prison Dungeon was built during the Second Age to jail RuneScape's most wanted. During a battle the dungeon collapsed killing most of the jailmates, but only the worst survived. Later on they were hunted down and killed so now the dungeon remained for many years. During the Fourth Age, a group of explorers trekked into the city to find fossils of a Third Age creature when one of the explorers fell into a hole leading him into a small, dark cavern. A rescue team was sent to rescue the explorer when they found his remains in something that looked like a jail cell. The rescue team managed to get out and made a small entrance for the team of scientists, explorers, investigators and explorers. Now that most of the cavern is explored, the exploration was put to a halt and left for a very long time.
